Coming Out for Pride 2015 in Pittsburgh

Here are some ways for Unitarian Universalists to take part in local LGBTQ Pride events on Sunday, June 14, 2015:

10-11am - Worship Service at Allegheny UU Church. 416 W North Ave, North Side. With Rev. David McFarland on “Celebrate Life! Celebrate Love!". There will be a food collection for the North Side Food Pantry and a Share the Plate collection for UUPLAN.

To head downtown from Allegheny UU, walk across West Park then towards PNC Park and take the LRT from the North Side station to one of the downtown stations.

10:30am - The UUPittsburgh booth opens at PrideFest. We’ll be at 822 Liberty Ave near Liberty Ave & 9th St

11:30am - UU’s gather on Blvd of the Allies between Cherry Way and Smithfield St. "Unitarian Universalists of Greater Pittsburgh" are group #63 in the Pride March

11:30am-1:30pm - UU Pride Picnic in West Park across from Allegheny UU Church

12-1pm - Pride Equality March Downtown

1-6pm - PrideFest on Liberty Ave between 6th St and 10th St Downtown

2:15pm - UU’s gather near the Point in Point State Park for Roots Pride

2:30-3:30pm - Roots Pride Healing Circle and Riverwalk Downtown

There are lots more LGBTQ Pride events happening this week and this month! Check out Pittsburgh Pride, Roots Pride, Pittsburgh Dyke Trans March, and Pittsburgh Black Pride.

There has been a lot of public controversy and media coverage around Pride this year. That's not a reason to stay at home, that's a reason to find more ways to engage with LGBTQ communities and come out to Stand on the Side of Love!
