10:45am - Morning Session - Keynote speaker Rev. Kathleen McTigue, director of the Unitarian Universalist College of Social Justice, on "The Faithful Resistance: Prophetic Witness in Dangerous Times"
Unitarian Universalism is generally understood to be a faith that is enacted: we try to show our beliefs by the way we live in the world, and particularly by the ways we show up for justice. But we are living through extraordinary political times, and many of us carry the uneasy feeling that our accustomed ways of enacting our values are not adequate to the dangers of our times. How might we reimagine faithfulness in our times, in ways that give life and power to the work of justice?
The UU College of Social Justice is a joint project of the Unitarian Universalist Association and the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee and is based in Cambridge, MA. The mission of the College is to inspire, equip, and sustain spiritually grounded action for justice. Its programs include immersion journeys for adults, service-learning and justice training for high school youth, summer internships and justice training for college-age young adults, and a variety of direct volunteer opportunities with grassroots partner groups in the U.S. and overseas. Rev. McTigue has led the UU College of Social Justice since it was founded in 2012.
