About

We are over 1200 UUs, 12 UU congregations, and 1 UU community joined together as the Unitarian Universalists of Greater Pittsburgh. Founded in November 2014 to strengthen and grow Unitarian Universalism in and around Pittsburgh, we are better together!

Mission

The mission of the Unitarian Universalists of Greater Pittsburgh is to:
- encourage mutual relationships among Pittsburgh area Unitarian Universalists churches in order to live in fellowship, share resources, and act collectively;
- create networks among our congregants, church staff, and ministers;
- address common concerns compelled by our shared values;
- organize and promote opportunities for area Unitarian Universalists to cooperatively learn, play, worship, engage in service, and work for justice; and
- increase the presence and impact of Unitarian Universalism in the greater Pittsburgh region.

Gatherings

Our primary event is an Annual Assembly, a day of camaraderie, connection, and collaboration which includes an annual business meeting. We strive to host other opportunities to learn, grow, network, serve, socialize, and have fun throughout the year.

Unitarian Universalist Association

Our congregations are members of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) which comprises about 1000 congregations across the United States and Canada and is headquartered in Boston. Within the UUA organizational structure, we are considered the Pittsburgh Cluster and are part of the Central East Region (CER). Our Primary Contact with the UUA is CER's Rev. Sunshine J. Wolfe (ghe/gher).

Community

We partner with community projects and alliances where it makes our efforts more relevant and impactful. Statewide, we support and turn out for the legislative priorities of Unitarian Universalist Justice Pennsylvania. Locally we align with the Pennsylvania Interfaith Impact Network (PIIN), where we work with other faith groups on local and regional issues of justice and fairness. The UU Pittsburgh Community Singers perform at justice events including the annual Let Freedom Sing! celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr..
